Well friends, a lot has happened in the past month and I will do my best to catch you up!! So here is part 1 of pictures and stories. Most of these pictures are also already posted to facebook, so you may have already seen them!
Camille and I carved
pumpkins for Halloween! They are much smaller here than in the states. We
brought them to all of our classes to show our students what they looked like
and why they are a tradition to make in America. The students absolutely loved
them! We are probably the only teachers who bring in props and visuals to add
to our lessons so the students tend to get excited about them!

His name was Freddie! |
HALLOWEEN IN HUANGSHI!!!!! MUAHAHAHA (thats
supposed to be a creepy scary laugh)
Chelsie, Camille and I
decided to go as Chinese "hoodrats" for Halloween. You have to be us
to fully understand this, but basically of everyone on our team the three of us
live in the sketchiest looking apartments and areas of our town! We have also
had incidences with rats....Chelsie actually had a rat in her apartment, poor
thing! Camille and I have a family of rats that live in the trash bin of our
alleyway that we have the pleasure of seeing every single day when we walk to
school! Can't say I've ever had that experience in America!
We thought it would be fun
to be "gangstas" since we live in the ghettoest (made up word) parts
of town (really not that bad though)....but we are Chinese-style
gangstas!
Decorated the high tops
herself and they are very chinese!
Erin went as a cat! She got
these leopard print long johns here at the flea market! She was too funny!
We did our best to make
Halloween-ish snacks like my vegetable skeleton!!!! There were also pumpkin cookies, homemade chips and salsa and moon pies! |
A gangsta, rhambo, and a
chinese person.
They were probably my
favorite! Nathan went as Aaron and Ryan went as Kevin, both very convincing.
Poor Ryan had fake glittery tattoos stuck on his arms for weeks! I didn't take
as many pictures as I should have, so note that giant Minnie Mouse head in the
background! Two of the girls actually rented costumes of Mickey and Minnie,
just like at Disney World!
Paul, dressed as Nathan,
with Snow White and a mime! |
I love this girl and
honestly don't know what I would do without her here in China! Dawn came
dressed in traditional Thai clothes!
Typcial :)
Another Fantastic Trip to
Wuhan
Mmmm Starbucks!!! It makes
us happy!
See? Look how happy they
are!
One of the reasons we went
to Wuhan is that our friend Ryan (below) can get a live feed of his parents' TV
all the way from Michigan, so that he can watch sports. He and his parents were
kind enough to let Camille and I watch the LSU v. Bama game! Thank goodness
too, because I'm pretty sure Cam and I would have had heart-attacks had we missed
out on the biggest game of the CENTURY! We arrived at his apartment at promptly
7:30 am to pre-game with our LSU snacks and coffee! The game took place at 8:00
in the morning over here! Mandi made the delicious LSU cake!
Camille getting ready for
the big game!
Of course the other
southern girls were into too! Melodie is from Texas and Mandi is from Baton
Rouge and went to LSU also! |
We got so many of our teammates
to watch the game too/ watch us watch the game since we are a tiny bit obnoxious
about LSU and how awesome we are! But only a tiny bit ;) I mean, its not our
fault that we are the best in the nation! We created a whole new group of
Tiger fans....for life! No turning back now!
The LSU girls still trying
to show their love and commitment from the other side of the world! Dedication!
We even created an LSU playlist
of all the best LSU/Louisiana songs to play before, during and after the game.
Songs such as
"Callin' Baton Rouge",
"Louisiana Saturday Night" and all of the Tiger Band's songs. This is
a picture of the team doing a victory dance to "Wobble". For those of
you who don't know, the wobble is a line dance to a rap song that has become
popular in Louisiana recently. Camille and I teach the dance to everyone we
meet and they all LOVE it.
Wow! Everyone is so intense
about this game!!! It must have been a really exciting part! Ok, ok this might
have been a slightly posed picture just for memory's sake!
WE WON! Camille and I were decked
out in LSU gear including the tats! We don't mess around! Even our nails were
painted purple and gold! YAY We're still No. 1!! We left the tats on our faces
all day and night including during our overnight train ride to Beijing and it
was pretty funny to see the Chinese people's reactions to us. We already look
strange to them as it is, but when you add a tiger to your face, the reactions
get even funnier!
To be continued.....
Part 2 of "The Last Month" will be
coming soon to your computer!
